U-17 updates

After their heartbreaking lose to Tahiti a two days ago,Solomon Islands has once again perform to expectation by thrashing Tonga 15 - 0.

The game was mostly one-sided with Solomon Islands dominating most of the action.

Tonga however never gave up in trying to put a mark on the scoreboard.

Their efforts never paid off as Solomon Islands flooded the Tongan net with 8 goals in the first half and another 7 in the second spell.

In other games that have been player so far, tournament favourites, New Zealand survived a brave and determined Fijian side to come away win a 1 - 0 win.

The game was full of pace and strong attack from both teams.

Fiji however did not manage to score any goals. That effectively placed the last nail on the coffin for them in their hopes of making the final.

Papua New Guinea also came through with a 2 -1 win over the American Samoans, while finalist hopefuls, Tahiti added another 3 points to their tally with a 1 - 0 win over Cook Islands.

New Caledonia whose last game with Tahiti will determine the winner for their pool, also got 3 points after convincing 8 - 1 win over the Cook Islanders.

As it currently stands in the tables, New Zealand and Tahiti are leading the two pools and have the best chances of making it through to the finals.

For the other teams, including Solomon Islands their chances depends very much on the outcomes of the games to be played in the coming days.

Despite their slim chances, we wish the Solomon Islands team all the luck and best in their remaining games.
